Unconventional ...

Potato soup was never one of my favorites at home. It was okay, but never my first choice. Such were dogs. Never my favorite (like kitties *smile*), but small ones were an okay second.

Well, I've found since being here that some things have changed. Keeping warm by fire is not so bad (except in the morning when it's so hard to get out of the warm bed to a cold house). Heating water by a gas bottle isn't so bad either (unless you're in the middle of a shower when the gas runs out ...). Learning a new language isn't so bad. In fact, sometimes I'm glad I don't understand what people are saying. And ... you guessed it ... I've found that potato soup and dogs aren't bad at all.

I made a big pot of potato soup today. It's cold, rainy, and dreary outside. As I was eating it ... it seemed to have a new taste. Not only did I taste the potatoes, onions, and seasonings, but there was more ... there was a hug inside! I thought back to potato soup at home and though I didn't care for it then, now it's amazing. I felt so "warm and fuzzy" inside and thought of my mom and dad's hugs and how they also make me feel "warm and fuzzy". (Jordan's hugs might make me "w&f" also, but he doesn't hug his sister ... so I wouldn't know! he! he!) Then, I thought of all my family and I want you to know that you were being hugged from Romania today!!!!

Also, there's a small dog that "lives" down the hill, but has found it much more comfortable here on the porch. Mrs. Robyn has made her a very nice bed out there. We "sneek" her inside for treats, warmth, and a little love. I had Corina inside today and we sat on the couch. She jumped up on the opposite side of the couch, but inched her way (on her belly) toward me and crawled up into my lap and onto my chest for some loving. Though not a friend I can verbally communicate with (though I talk to her often ... she thinks my Romanian is great!), I've found that God has blessed me with many unconventional blessings ... including soup and puppies!

These random thoughts have been brought to you today by a girl who's THRILLED she's in God's will, but missing her family, friends, and kitties!

Oh, Wow! It took us about 30 minutes to get though reading the blog. Can't see much through watery eyes. I will never look at potato soup the same way ever again but we will have it more often. We could feel the hugs yesterday and hope you could feel them too. About dogs, they are cute but kitties are cuter. Glad you made a good friend with Corina. Take care and be extra careful! Look forward to talking with you soon. MM Laine
