Here in Romania, the smaller population of Hungarians and Catholics celebrated Easter on March 23 with Americans. However, the majority will celebrate on April 27 with the Romanians and Orthodox. So, I have yet to experience a true Romanian Easter Sunday.
On March 23, though I did experience a fabulous Easter message here at the house by Bro. Tom and a delicious ham-with-all-the-fixins meal, this was truly an 'Easter' like no other. No new dress ... but I did get to go to the circus with 31 kids from the Children's Home and the Isaacsons.
That's right. It was a one ring phenomenon! The stars of the show included dancing dogs, 2 presumptuous plate-spinners, a mischievous monkey, 7 (yes, 7 *shudder*) slithery snakes, two tarantulas, an icky iguana, a knowledgeable knife thrower, a genius glass walker, many mini horses, a carefree camel, a lovely llama, curious clowns, a baby bear cub, and a partridge in a pear tree (ok, so it was pigeons walking on a rotating ball ... same difference).
The BEST part of the whole thing was watching the kid's expressions. Most of them had never been to the circus before, and they were SOOOOOOOOO excited! A little girl sat on my lap for most of the show, and several times she turned to face me, got a huge smile, and just hugged me so tight that I thought she was going to choke me. It was pure excitement! Though it wasn't the lions, and tigers, and bears (oh, my!) that Americans expect to see at the circus ... it was pure joy to see the simplest animals through the eyes of children.
Easter dinner of ham, deviled eggs, green beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, biscuits, and german chocolate cake.
'Here we come, walkin' down the street'... (for about a mile). We're so excited to go in!
We got ring-side seats. These are two out of a group of 5 sisters. The one in the pink is the 'choker' that I spoke about.
The camel, monkey, and 1 of the 7 (yes, 7 *shudder*) snakes.
The pigeons, bear cub, and 1 clown.
We had a great time!!! Thanks, Tom and Robyn, for paying our entrance fees!
